This networking event will be jointly organised by Plan International, UN-Habitat and Women in Cities International. This event will provide a space for panellists to share recommendations for implementing the New Urban Agenda (NUA) for achieving the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. Specifically, the event will provide a space for panellists to share recommendations for implementing the NUA, by emphasing the importance of developing multi-level, multi-stakeholder, and multi-sectoral partnerships – both horizontal and vertical – with a variety of urban actors. By working with a variety of urban actors, discriminatory and harmful social norms can be confronted and sustainable partnerships can be developed which promote girls' safety and inclusion in cities. Panellists from Plan International, including adolescent girls from Hanoi, Vietnam, will highlight activities and resources from its global Safer Cities for Girls programme and showcase innovative ways of bringing together various urban stakeholders and building sustainable partnerships in order to promote girls' safety and inclusion in cities. Women in Cities International and UN-Habitat will highlight some important lessons from the programme, including the importance of not only building the capacity of girls to participate in transforming their cities, but also the importance of building the capacities of government and other urban stakeholders to listen.
