Summary

A presentation of a new scale of city planning taking into account the latest developments in transport technology with particular reference to the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The partners include Think City, Malaysia's urban regeneration agency and MyHSR, a special purpose vehicle implementing the high speed rail project.

This will be followed by a panel discussion on how a new scale of planning is required aligning both spatial and economic development following the principles of the New Urban Agenda. This is particularly important to ensure that inclusive outcomes are met involving community engagement and alignment with governmental agencies.

The audience will then participate in creating the basis for a guideline document to assist city governments with the implementation of the SDGs and New Urban Agenda. This document will have specific focus on the needs for public private participation identifying areas for investments and opportunities for inclusive development.

The event will end with a call for partnerships from civic society, NGOs, local governments, and other appropriate parties to work with Fundacion Metropoli, MyHSR and Think City to build partnerships across the cities in West Peninsular Malaysia as better connectivity provide new functions to these cities
