The event will bring together key urban stakeholders to exchange views and ideas on the effective implementation of the New Urban Agenda using the Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) process. The session shall allow for the presentation of experiences and action plans resulting from UTCs, initiated by the World Urban Campaign after the Habitat III Conference held in 2016. The Campaign brings together Businesses and Industries, Foundations and Philanthropies, Media, Professionals, Children and Youth, Grass roots organizations, Older Persons, Trade Unions and Workers, Civil Society Organizations, Indigenous people, Parliamentarians, Research and Academia, Farmers, Local and Sub-National Authorities, Persons with Disabilities as well as Women, in order to achieve sustainable urban development. After Habitat III in Quito and the successful UTC Phase 1 (engaging more than 7,800 people from 2,100 and 25 cities around the world), the WUC Community, of which Arcadis is a Lead Partner, decided to continue engaging stakeholders in the post-Habitat III era by focusing on developing action plans to contribute to the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. Key questions will drive the debate of this event: What are the practical commitments to implement the New Urban Agenda to date? Through which alliances and coalitions? What is the particular role of the private sector in that process? What are the key achievements to date and the gaps to be addressed in the coming two years in order to be on track? On what issues and solutions your Urban Thinkers Campuses would focus in the next phase? What will be the particular follow-up and actions?
