The Role of Cities in the 2018 High-Level Political Forum: Transformation Towards Sustainable and Resilient Societies

Given the key role that urban topics play in the 2018 session of the High-Level Political Forum, the side event seeks to share and discuss 1) ways that cities contribute to the theme of the 2018 HLPF, and 2) how urban actors can contribute to and engage in the 2018 HLPF and beyond. This will include avenues for participation such as regional preparatory meetings, Expert Group Meetings, Voluntary National Reviews, local-level reporting on progress towards the SDGs, and urban-related events at the 2018 HLPF. It is also essential that those working and living in cities understand the central importance of cities to successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and the ways in which the New Urban Agenda and other intergovernmental processes can contribute to global achievement of the SDGs.
